A Conversation with Deborah Cohen: RBSC

The Rutgers British Studies Center is excited to invite you to

“Public Histories of Private Lives: A Conversation with Deborah Cohen about Writing History,”

Deborah Cohen is the Richard W. Leopold Professor and Chair of History at Northwestern University. An acclaimed scholar of British, European, and global history, Cohen deftly weaves the intimate lives of her historical subjects into broad stories of empire, state, and society. Her work engages diverse themes, including histories of gender, war, and material culture.

 

Cohen will also be holding a masterclass lunch workshop with graduate students, where she will use students’ works-in-progress to discuss integrating context and comparison into historical narratives.
