Tourism and the Commodification of Blackness: Talk by Orlando Deavila Pertuz

The Rutgers Colombia and Caribbean Working Groups invite you to the wonderful online talk "Tourism and the Commodification of Blackness in the Colombian Caribbean during the Twentieth Century." Dr. Orlando DeAvila Pertuz, Assistant Professor in the International Institute of Caribbean Studies at Universidad de Cartagena (Colombia), will give the talk. He is a social and urban historian working on the history of tourism development, the informal city, and the making of race and ethnicity in modern Colombia. He earned a Ph.D. in Latin American history at the University of Connecticut.
