Meagan is a sixth-year PhD candidate who studies American history and the history of science and technology. Broadly conceived, her dissertation considers the relationship between numerical and political reckonings within the United States. At its core, her project asks how the counting of people and the making of populations dictated the contours of both freedom and citizenship during the antebellum period. Meagan received a B.A. in history from the University of Ottawa in 2012 and an M.A. in history from Concordia University in 2015.
