Brenna is a PhD Candidate specializing in modern European history. Her dissertation focuses on ethnic Germans who were expelled from parts of Eastern Europe after WWII and their lives in the Soviet Occupation Zone and German Democratic Republic (GDR). She investigates questions of forced migration, Heimat, and belonging. Brenna received her B.A. in 2015 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
