Nick Sprenger is a fourth year PhD student who studies the history of imperial violence in the British Empire during the long nineteenth century. His dissertation examines the contested meanings of outrage throughout Britain and the empire--how outrage as a form of violence was managed and understood by imperial authorities. Prior to joining Rutgers, he completed both his BA and MA in history at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
