Jeongeun Park is a PhD student in Asian and Middle Eastern History and Modern European History. She studies the history of knowledge and cultural transfer during the Cold War in Northeast Asia (including the Soviet Union). Her research explores North Korea’s international and transnational outlook, examining how it navigated Soviet and Eastern European assistance and pressure, and fraternized with post-colonial countries in the Second and Third World. She engages in digital humanities scholarship with an interest in quantitative textual analysis and virtual exhibitions. Her other research interests include propaganda, psychological warfare, and imperialism.
Jeongeun received her B.A. with Departmental Honors in History (minors in modern languages and digital humanities) from Stanford University. Her first name is pronounced "Jŏng-ŭn."
