Paul is a doctoral candidate in modern European history focusing on memory of the Second World War in the Soviet Union. His dissertation “Beyond a Fiery Line: The Memory of the Burned Villages in Soviet Belorussia” traces the historical memory and commemoration of the German occupation of Soviet Belorussia and its representation in the writings of author Ales’ Adamovich. Paul’s research interests also include comparative studies of World War II historical memory. He has taught courses on the Holocaust and global 20th Century history.
