Gwendolyn Fowler is a third-year doctoral student at Rutgers University. Her research focuses on the women of the Welfare Rights Movement. Specifically, she researches the welfare rights group the Westside Mothers of Detroit, Michigan. Gwendolyn hopes to address the historical silence surrounding the movement and its erasure from movement histories of the 20th century. She received her B.A. in History from Rutgers University-Newark and her M.A. in Women’s History from Sarah Lawrence College.
