Nathan Darmiento is a second-year PhD student at Rutgers specializing in Latin American history with a minor in U.S. history. Prior to joining the History Department, Nathan worked for several years as a land records archivist, long-term care ombudsman, and property tax specialist. He earned his B.A. in History and Latin American Studies from the University of Utah in 2022. Nathan's current research focuses on Chiapas, Mexico, examining how agrarian conflicts, development projects, and local politics influenced national and local responses to the arrival of Guatemalan refugees during the 1980s.
