Colin O’Connell is a third-year PhD student studying Women’s and Gender History and Modern European History. Colin’s research explores gay male life in Thatcherite Britain. He is mainly interested in the spatial lives and movements of poor and working-class gay men across rural and small-town Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. His work considers masculinity, metronormativity, HIV/AIDS, Thatcherism, sexuality, and selfhood.
