Colin O’Connell is a PhD student studying Modern European History and Women’s and Gender History. Colin’s research examines the interplay between queer life and the Thatcher government in 1980s Britain. He is namely interested in the lives and movements of poor and working class queer selves and collectives across Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Colin’s work considers masculinity, rurality, HIV/AIDS, Thatcherism, sexuality, and selfhood.
