Christine Staton is a second-year PhD student studying early modern European global and comparative history. Her research focuses on the cultural and intellectual history of pre-industrial Italy, specifically the revival of antiquity. Christine earned her bachelor’s degree at Rutgers University, New Brunswick; she double-majored in art history and Italian studies and completed a certificate in cultural heritage and preservation studies. After graduation, Christine worked for the Philadelphia Museum of Art and then continued her education at Syracuse University in Florence, earning a master’s in art history in 2020. Before returning to Rutgers to start her PhD, Christine taught art history courses at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey.
