Ian Scott is a first-year PhD student studying the History of Atlantic Cultures and the African Diaspora, and Latin American History. He received his B.A. in African and African American Studies in 2024 from Dartmouth College, where he was a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow. His research interests focus on Cold War Jamaica, particularly how competing visions of socialism among students, workers, and political elites made and unmade the democratic socialist project under Michael Manley between 1972 and 1980.
