Undergraduate Historical Journal

Founded in 2023, Old Queens is the first student-run history journal at Rutgers University, dedicated to giving undergraduate students of all majors the opportunity to have their historical essays published. Students will have a chance to be recognized for their work, discover the publishing process, and improve their historical writing skills. We encourage students to submit their work not just from history classes they have taken, but any class in which they have taken a historical approach to topics in the humanities, social sciences, and STEM. In compiling this journal we seek to explore well-known historical topics, as well as hidden historical narratives that students have explored both inside and outside of the classroom.

Undergraduate students of all majors are welcome to submit their papers, join our editing team, and get involved with the publishing process!

Our inaugural Spring 2024 edition will be published this May, and submissions for the next edition will open Fall 2024.
